Word on the Street: Cloud

Well whether you have been riding on cloud nine this summer or there have been one too many cloudy days we have got you covered for the next hour. Give it a listen, let us know your faves, what you liked and didn't like, etc. you know the drill.

P.S. We highly recommend you listen to Cloud of Unknowing. Its a fave over on our end and we only discovered it creating this playlist!

Enjoy!

Team Spotlight Playlist: Five

Hello, World!

You Already Know - Bombay Bicycle Club

I magically discovered this band when I saw my favorite band, Two Door Cinema Club, wearing a t-shirt of theirs. I instantly fell in love with their sound, which is a sort of feel-good, sway-to-the-beat, soft electric guitar feel. They’re a great band if you’re into chill, Indie music. This song is from 2008, but I first heard it recently, which reminded me how much I love this band. Carissa Estilo

Goodbye - Melvv

Sometimes you need an empowering song about leaving toxicity behind.. sometimes you need a pump-up song for a workout. This one, fortunately, accomplishes both. Tanya Gupta

Jethro - Thundercat

Melodic, discordant, and just downright groovy, Thundercat's skills as a bassist are unparalleled. This one's short, but soulful, and will leave you craving the rest of the 2017 release "Drunk"  Jo Dimatteo

Aphasia - Pinegrove

The lyrics really hit me in this song. "Aphasia" is a communication disorder that affects the parts of the brain that allow you to find the right words to say. Called an "ode to the unexplainable" by Atwood Magazine, this song resonates with the most personal feelings of miscommunication, and paradoxically, the relief that overwhelms you when you finally find the right outlet to express yourself.  Quinn Robertson

New Rules - Due Lipa

1. She's Albanian so I have to give a shout out to my people!

2. Her music is bomb and if you haven't listened to any of her songs you must have been hiding under a rock.

3. The music video is all about women empowerment. Here is the link to the music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2qgadSvNyU

Word on the Street: Ice

Were are back and here to cool off your hot summer *insert string of emojis that have to do with summer and flames here* with some Ice.

And not the Ice on your wrist, because you really can't listen to that unless some rapper wants to brag about his new roley. Or about the ice box that is now his heart because you know how you be catching feels in the summer.

If you couldn't tell this playlist is more hip hop heavy than the rest. What can we say, we like to keep you on your feet here. Can't be too predictable now can we?

Any who enjoy this playlists you try to keep cool in this summer heat!

Team Spotlight Playlist: Four

15 Step - Radio Head

I first got really into Radiohead when I was about 13. Before that point, I've always heard of the band but never really delved into their music. This might be kind of embarrassing, but I sort of "discovered" their music from the twilight soundtrack. All of their movie soundtracks are kind of AMAZING, so everyone should take a listen, even if they think sparkling vampires are dumb. Carissa Estilo

Sweep Me Off My Feet - Pod

Just discovered Pond, Tame Impala's side project. Enough said.  Quinn Robertson

Take Off Your Sunglasses - Ezra Furman and the Harpoons

Bob-Dylanesque and angsty, Ezra Furman's voice is both unsettling and captivating in this upbeat jam. I fell in love with their quirky, slightly antiestablishment lyricism, so U guarantee you will at least crack a smile if you're not a moneybags one-percenter. Jo Dimatteo

Live in this Moment - Kakou

I found this song on my discovery weekly playlist last week on Spotify ... it think? I haven't not had it on repeat since I found it. You need to listen to it for yourself.  The lyrics aren't anything groundbreaking but the sound does all of the work for this song. I was upset to see that this is their only song on Spotify because this vibe is everything!!! Laura Ahmetaj

Burn Out Blues - Vince Staples

I first discovered Washed Out because they made the theme song for the show Portlandia, and I've been following their stuff ever since. Their newest album was just released, and I've had this on repeat for days! Tanya Gupta

Word on the Street: Blue

Blue. Azul. Bleu. Gorm. Plava. Kék. Blu. E putsoa. Buluug. 青.  أزرق. (Check this website out how to say blue in 68 other languages https://www.indifferentlanguages.com/words/blue)

Regardless of the language, blue is universally the color of the ocean and the summer sky.

Check out our playlist even if you aren't feeling blue because we got a little bit of everything. Not gonna lie, we discovered some new music ourselves making this playlist. We also included some classics to instill those feelings of nostalgia we love. Enjoy!
